In this section we are going to cover the different Rhyme Schemes and Rhyme Techniques that make up the bars which go into the verses of a song.

Rhyme Schemes

  1. End Rhymes: Rhymes at the end of lines. Example: "I’m hot like the sun / Shine bright, number one.

  2. Internal Rhymes: Rhymes within a single line. Example: "I spit it quick, get the kick, make you sick."

  3. Multisyllabic Rhymes: Rhymes that span multiple syllables. Example: "In the kitchen whipping / Got the wrist flicking."

Rhyme schemes are the foundation of all rap songs. When rap first started it's basics boiled down to the End Rhyme and where all the emphasis of every bar was put.

Rhyme Techniques

  1. Metaphors: Direct comparisons between two unlike things. Example: "My mind is a weapon, my thoughts are bullets." MEMBERS GET ACCESS TO THE METAPHOR TRAINER HERE.

  2. Similes: Comparisons using "like" or "as." Example: "Sharp as a knife, bright like a star." SIMILE SIMULATOR IS ON THE SAME SHEET AS THE METAPHOR TRAINER.

  3. Punchlines: Hard-hitting, witty lines often at the end of a verse. Example: "I’m the rap game’s Houdini, now you see me, now you don’t." PUNCHLINE PROFIT MAKER IS ON THE SAME SHEET AS THE METAPHOR TRAINER.

Rhyme Techniques are what's going to set you apart as an artist and keep your bars exciting and engaging and not what everyone is anticipating. You keep the energy going and keep it new using Rhyme Techniques.

When you are starting to write you can always use the Ws as a foundation. Who, What, Where, When, and Why? How is the other Question to answer in your subject matter.

Who are we rapping about? Is the rap about you, your child, a relative, Santa Clause? What is the rap about? What is the person wearing, smelling? Where is the rap taking place and when? All this imagery in the rap brings it to life and makes it personal so other people can relate.

You can find a great deal of End Rhymes using this free online resource Rhymezone. One of my favorites for ideas to find matching words and sounds.

16-Bar Verse on Women

In a world so grand, she stands with elegance,

Her presence, like a queen, commands with reverence.

Intelligence and beauty blend, a rare alliance,

Her essence captivates, invoking pure compliance.

Her laughter's like a melody, a perfect serenade,

In every moment shared, memories are made.

With every word she speaks, wisdom intertwines,

Creating masterpieces, like intricate designs.

She's the heartbeat of the room, a beacon of delight,

Guiding through the darkness, bringing forth the light.

Her strength is unmatched, like a warrior in her prime,

Facing every challenge, surpassing space and time.

In her eyes, a universe, vast and unexplored,

With every gaze, a journey, leaving spirits soared.

She's the poetry in motion, grace in every stride,

A symphony of wonder, an everlasting guide.

Her smile's a burst of sunshine, warming every soul,

Her kindness knows no bounds, making others whole.

In the tapestry of life, she's the brightest thread,

A woman of distinction, in her steps we're led.

The rap is beautifully written with no slang or profanity, You can see how the style and techniques may differ from your work. As we work through the course you will notice how your style will change and improve learning a few new techniques easy to implement with a little practice.

RAP ABOUT MONEY (Kozy aka Cigarface)

I'm chasing after money, sweeter than the thickest honey,

Ain't nothing funny 'bout the grind when the rainy days ain't sunny.

Cash flow be slow in coming, seem like it be running from me,

No time to hang with dummies, making bread to fill my tummy

Life ain't even crummy when you're stacking hella money

Purple bills lookin plummy, living lavish, nothing funny

about Avoiding all that's scummy, staying sharp and never hungry

Every move calculated smooth, never acting crummy,

In a world looking more sunny, got that runny cash flow,
